Track Of The Day :: Beach Slang - Young & Alive

Words: Linn Branson

Sounding a little - a little? A lot! - more intense than when we heard Philadelphia punks Beach Slang earlier in the year on the laid-back and acoustic on 'Too Young To Die' (their contribution to the 'Strength in Weakness' six-band split compilation album) which consisted of stripped-down jam that featured little more than frontman James Alex's muted vocal and a guitar, back they range in full-frontal noise attack with 'Young & Alive'.

The track, which appears on their upcoming album, 'The Things We Do To Find People Who Feel Like Us', is a bone-crunching, thrashing monster that rears up on the high energy, angst and frustration of youth - and never lets up.

"Go truth or dare like brats tonight. It's wild. Go shake your Cher. Go bake a dime. We are young and alive. Go bang the snares and amplifiers. It's wild. Take down your hair. Wake up the night. We are young and alive. Go barely care with all your might. It's wild. Go scare your skull. Bring it to life. We are young and alive. Go punch the air with things you write. It's wild. We are awake with hearts to riot. We are young and alive."

Dudes.

'The Things We Do To Find People Who Feel Like Us', is out on October 30 via Big Scary Monsters (UK/Europe), Polyvinyl Records (US/Canada), Moorworks (Japan), Cooking Vinyl (Australia/New Zealand).
