Chairlift Debut First New Work In 3 Years. Listen To 'Ch-Ching'

Words: Ellie Ward

Chairlift show they are back in force again with new single ‘Ch-Ching’, which Caroline Polachek described to Zane Lowe, on whose Beats 1 radio show it was premiered today, as about "the experience of living in New York. ‘Ch-Ching’ is sort of about that feeling of getting lucky and not really realizing what just hit you, but rolling with it.”

Three years after Polachek and Patrick Wimberly last gave us any Chairlift material, the new track is taken from their expected third, untitled album, the follow-up to 2012’s ‘Something’. Aside from their individual solo projects (Polachek with her Ramona Lisa alias; Wimberly working with Tune-Yards and Wet), they have apparently been busy turning a derelict pharmacy into a recording studio called the CRC (Colleague Resource Center) where they have worked on ‘Ch-Ching’.

Laced with strains of trembling brass and synths, flowing drums and Polachek’s always exciting vocals, the track is a punchy and vibrant new pop direction for Chairlift. Take a listen below.
