[Video] Osaka - Weights

Words: Sam Geary

Melbourne's Osaka - featured as Track Of TheDay back in August with 'Weights', a track taken from their five-track just recently released debut EP 'Manoeuvres', produced by Malcolm Besley (City Calm Down, Snakadaktal).

Now the three 20-year-olds have released a dark, foreboding video for the single.

Directed by filmmaker Hailey Hugh-Clink, the clip is as unsettling as it is strangely stunning. Shot over two days in a mysterious location, it builds a brooding, gloomy world from which Osaka can authentically tell their story via elements of interpretive dance, manipulation of the physical world, and a grime-esque aesthetic.

Frontman Edvard Hakansson says of the track: "It talks about carrying someone or something’s weight... And what would happen if you just allowed the weight to crush you? Or if you gave up on why you carried it."
